ACCI Zoom Conference with Peter Verwer AO, Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Global Business and Talent Attraction on Global Business and Talent Attraction Taskforce Update
Peter Verwer AO, the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Global Business and Talent Attraction, says, “Australia has managed the Covid-19 crisis extremely well, but its economy, like many others around the world, has taken a hit. This is precisely why Australia established the Global Business and Talent Attraction Taskforce. It serves to attract high-value businesses and exceptionally talented individuals such as top scientists, tech entrepreneurs, and investors, along with their ideas, networks, and capital, to work and live permanently in Australia. This will in turn create opportunities for Australians by transferring skills, promoting innovation, and creating jobs.”
The Global Business and Talent Attraction Taskforce is working to realise the Australian Government’s vision to turbocharge the economy and boost prosperity across the nation. The Taskforce’s mission is to transform Australia into a more powerful magnet for marquee enterprises and exceptional individuals so we can reap the benefit of their ideas, capital, talent and networks.
The Taskforce operates in the Department of Home Affairs and is co-led with the Australian Trade and Investment Commission. A multi-skilled team from the Departments of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Employment, Skills and Education, Industry, Science, Energy and Resources and the Treasury, along with private sector experts, support the Taskforce.
The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a zoom conference with Peter Verwer.
Peter provided an update on the recent achievements & outcomes of the Taskforce and how business can help the Taskforce achieve its objectives. Following his address answered many questions from business leaders across Australia.
