Disability employment support program
This week Minister Rishworth released the Department of Social Services’ (DSS) Consultation Report – Shaping your new disability employment support program. This followed a period of consultation into the design of the New Disability Support Model which will take effect from July 1, 2023. ACCI participated in the consultation process, including putting in a submission and through our ongoing role on the DES Reference Group. It was good to see recognition of feedback that there should be a single point of contact for employers to help engagement with the system, as well as support for employers to recruit and retain these valuable staff. We will continue to engage in advocacy aimed at increasing participation of people with disability in the lead up to the Jobs Summit.
