Tourism update | October 28, 2022

28 Oct 2022

In this week’s Budget, the Government funded its tourism-related pre-election commitments, many of which were called for by Australian Chamber – Tourism. Most notably these included $48 million over four years to support recruitment and marketing in the tourism and travel sectors, and for infrastructure upgrades to caravan parks. Australian Chamber – Tourism issued a media release noting that it is a strong start in a shortened Budget period, but further initiatives in the next full Budget are needed to drive long-term sustainable growth.

It is timely that the Minister for Trade and Tourism, Don Farrell is holding another Tourism Roundtable shortly. The Tourism Committee is meeting next Wednesday to coordinate our input and lay the groundwork for the measures needed in the next Budget.
