ICC Australia National Policy Committee Meeting
On Wednesday, ACCI held its first ICC Australia National Policy Committee Meeting of the year with special guest speaker Frances Lisson, DFAT’s Australian Chief Negotiator for the India-Australia Economic Cooperation & Trade Agreement.
Frances provided attendees a debrief on India-Australia trade agreement and set the scene for the next phase of negotiations towards the India-Australia Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement.
The meeting, chaired by Mark Birrell AM, also included updates from the ICC Australia Arbitration and Banking committees.
Newly elected President of The Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) Peter McMullin also provided an update on CACCI’s priorities and work for the year ahead.
ICC Australia Arbitration Committee inaugural chair Mark Mangan provided an overview of the committee’s objectives, introduced the Steering Committee and its objectives, and provided details on upcoming events for year.
Meeting with the Thai Ambassador
ACCI CEO Andrew McKellar and ACCI Head of Trade and International Affairs Chris Barnes met the Thai Ambassador Arjaree Sriratanaban to discuss Thailand – Australia bilateral relationship, trade and investment priorities, and in preparation of Thai delegation’s visit to Canberra early March.
ACCI welcomes Arjaree Sriratanaban’s appointment as the Thai Ambassador to Australia last December and was honoured to have the Ambassador visit so early into her posting. The Thailand Board of Investment will be holding a virtual seminar on Thursday, February 23 at 2:00pm AEST, introducing investment opportunities in Thailand and an overview on the new Investment Promotion Strategy from 2023 – 2027. The session will be opened by the Ambassadors of the Thailand to Australia and to New Zealand.
