Tourism update | 24 March 2023

The Tourism Committee met in Canberra this week, with a productive discussion covering employment, skills and migration issues, funding of passenger movement at the border and the passenger movement charge, and the set-up of the Future Traveller Working Group and Sustainable Tourism Advisory Committee.
The committee then met at Parliament House for a roundtable with Minister for Trade and Tourism, Senator Don Farrell. The minister gave a briefing to the group and participated in a Q&A session that focused on measures to support the recovery and long-term growth of the visitor economy, progress on the implementation of the THRIVE 2030 Strategy, and alleviating chronic workforce shortages across the sector.
