ACCI submission on the Australian Cyber Security Strategy Discussion Paper for 2023-2030.
ACCI submitted our response to the Cyber Security Strategy discussion paper last week. Our key commentary includes:

  • ACCI asserts that a collaborative approach between government, industry, and the community is essential to achieving stronger cybersecurity.
  • ACCI and its members are concerned that current cybersecurity obligations are confusing and difficult to follow and suggest that the government needs to consolidate existing cybersecurity legislations to avoid regulatory overlap and create consolidated legislation.
  • ACCI also recommends that new cybersecurity requirements should be developed in consultation with industry stakeholders and subject to a rigorous cost-benefit analysis.
  • Other recommendations include reviewing current contract and procurement requirements and introducing a voluntary cybersecurity services accreditation scheme for IT providers.
  • ACCI supports the government’s proposal of the national office functioning as a national body responsible for coordinating cybersecurity efforts across government and encourages funding allocation or reappropriation to ensure this.
