Tourism update | 10 March 2023

09 Mar 2023

This week ACCI and Australian Chamber – Tourism appeared before the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade in relation to its inquiry into Australia’s tourism and international education sectors. In the tourism space, the committee members were particularly interested in the competitiveness of Australia’s visa settings, the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, the international tourist experience, as well as workforce issues the sector is facing.

We look forward to the meeting of the Tourism Committee next Tuesday, March 21 in Canberra, with discussions focused on employment, skills and migration, passenger facilitation, and the Future Traveller Working Group and Sustainable Tourism Advisory Council, which have been set up to further the advocacy of Australian Chamber – Tourism. As part of the meeting, the committee will be meeting with Minister for Trade and Tourism, the Hon Don Farrell, which will be a great opportunity for members to directly engage with the minister.
