Visitor Economy Disability Employment Pilot
ACCI-Tourism has continued its engagement with the Department of Social Services (DSS) on progress of the Visitor Economy Disability Employment Pilot.
Given the limited Budget allocation of $3.3 million, it is likely that the pilot will focus on a small number of regional locations in the first instance. DSS in conjunction with Austrade are working towards engaging in stakeholder consultations next month on the design of the pilot and will be engaging further with ACCI-Tourism as part of those consultations. The tender process to select employment service providers to be involved in the pilot will likely kick off later in the year.
Creating pathways to connect people with disability looking for work with tourism businesses is a great initiative to address the workforce shortages being experienced by the sector and we are looking forward to continuing to engage as the development of the pilot progresses.
