Tourism update | November 4, 2022

This week ACCI – Tourism led discussions with a number of members at a Roundtable that Minister for Trade and Tourism Don Farrell held in Adelaide. We held a meeting with interested members of the Tourism Committee beforehand to ensure consistent messaging and a coordinated approach so we could make the most out of the hour with the Minister. At the Roundtable we raised the need to address immediate issues, including labour and skills shortages, aviation capacity, as well as ensuring productive workplaces. We also reinforced the need for a long term strategy and future vision that supports opportunities to drive long-term sustainable growth, including improvements in relation to visa processing and developing quality product. We asked for the Minister’s support in advocating for initiatives to support measures to increase Australia’s international competitiveness, deliver on the needs and wants of our visitors and ensure economic uplift, and reiterated that industry is committed to working together and supporting Government in achieving short and long term goals.
