ACCI delegates including Peter Daly, CEO, Master Plumbers and Chair, ACCI Employment & Skills Committee, have returned from the International Labour Conference in Geneva this week having taken part in the historic agreement to adopt the fundamental right to a safe and healthy working environment.
Following two weeks of final negotiations, government, employer and worker representatives adopted a resolution to add the principle of a safe and healthy working environment to the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
This principle becomes the fifth fundamental right alongside freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining; the elimination of forced labour; the abolition of child labour and elimination of discrimination in respect of employment.
