Government Consultation on Workplace Relations Matters (First Half of 2023)
The Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, Tony Burke, has announced that there will be at least two pieces of legislation on workplace relations matters introduced into the Federal Parliament in 2023. The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations is commencing consultation on the matters that will be covered in the first legislation and has invited ACCI to provide them with a written submission and meet with departmental officers. 

ACCI is convening a meeting with members on Friday, February 17 to discuss proposed positions on these matters which will then be incorporated into our submissions.

Statement of Principles on Genuine Agreement 
The Fair Work Commission is consulting interested parties in the development of a statement of principles which will assist them in determining whether a proposed enterprise agreement has been “genuinely agreed to”. 

ACCI convened a meeting with members on Friday, February 10 to discuss these matters. ACCI has begun consultation with the Fair Work Commission.

Annual Wage Review 2022-23 
The first submission in the Annual Wage Review 2022-23, which relates to the treatment of employees of recently privatised state government assets, is due to be lodged by ACCI on FridayFebruary 17.

ACCI is also preparing its initial submission to the substantive review. ACCI will soon convene a meeting with members to finalise the network’s position on how much minimum wages should be increased on July 1.

Member Guides on Changes to Fair Work Act 
ACCI has circulated a draft of a guide to some of the changes to the Fair Work Act following the passage of the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Act 2022 last November. ACCI will soon publish the final version of this guide for members. 

ACCI is also beginning to develop a second guide which will relate to changes to enterprise bargaining under the Fair Work Act. A draft will be circulated to members over the coming weeks.
