Australia’s Chief Scientist provides high-level independent advice to the Prime Minister on matters relating to science, technology & innovation. They also hold the position of Executive Officer of the National Science & Technology Council to identify challenges & opportunities for Australia that can be addressed, in part, through science.
Dr Foley the Chief Scientist has a passion for advancing scientific research and has held various roles, including member of the Prime Minister’s Science, Engineering & Innovation Council.
Dr Foley is an inspiration to women in STEM across the globe & is committed to tackling gender equality & diversity in the science sector. Throughout her career she has strived to create an environment that embraces the full human potential of both men & women for wellbeing & economic benefit and for equality.
Dr Foley outlined her focus in the role including putting science at the heart of policy to make local industries more competitive & to help drive Australia’s COVID-19 economic recovery.
