Video Conference with Peter Verwer AO, Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Global Business and Talent Attraction

The Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Global Business and Talent Attraction Peter Verwer AO was appointed in late August 2020.

Peter leads the Taskforce which is driving a whole-of-government effort to attract high-value enterprises and exceptionally talented individuals to Australia to help turbocharge our economic recovery from COVID-19, boost our national resilience and drive competitiveness.

​​The Taskforce has been established in the Department of Home Affairs and in partnership with the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, & comprises of officers from different Federal agencies. The Taskforce is working closely with States and Territories.

Peter said that “Morrison Government’s JobMaker program aims to turbocharge the Australian economy. The Taskforce is also attracting the world’s marquee enterprises to co-invest with Australian firms and create jobs”.

At this session, Peter also talked about the work of the Taskforce, filling skills gaps and out-competing our global rivals in a COVID19-disrupted world.
