Video conference with the Hon Ed Husic MP, Federal Member for Chifley Shadow Minister for Industry and Innovation

Federal Labor industry spokesman Ed Husic MP told business leaders across Australia this morning, that rebuilding manufacturing back home should be a priority.

“The aim of the game now is sovereign capability – making sure Australia is a country that can make things, rebuilding manufacturing,” he said.

“We need to think of new ways to support local manufacturing in Australia,”.

“We have the smarts; we have the capacity.

“What we want to see in the longer term is the creation of secure, well paid and sustainable jobs. We want to build on our national economic strengths. We want to diversify our industrial and economic base, developing national capability. We want to boost regional economic development and employment growth,” he said

The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ACCI held a zoom session with the Hon Ed Husic MP, Shadow Minister for Industry and Innovation, Federal Member for Chifley.

At this video conference, Ed outlined Labor’s focus and priorities in his shadow portfolios of industry and innovation .

In addition, Ed answered many questions from business leaders during the Q&A session.
