Australians suffering from mental health concerns cost our national economy up to $220 billion a year, according to the Productivity Commission.

The comprehensive report was commissioned by the Federal Government & examined the effect mental health had on Australians.

The Commission also found investing in mental health services created strong returns, with a $4.2b investment to save $20b in lost productivity.

Georgie spoke about the additional funding Beyond Blue received in the Federal Budget to establish NewAccess for Small Business along with existing mental health resources for employers & businesses such as Beyond Blue’s Heads Up initiative. External pressures including the drought, bushfires,the COVID-19 pandemic & subsequent economic downturn, have contributed to an increase in reported mental health conditions, so understanding what support and strategies are available for workplaces is more important than ever.
